Original guide: https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=setup

From installing the apps to your first slide change.

## 1. Install both apps

Install **PPTControl** on your phone or tablet. This is your remote.

Install **PPTControl Desktop** on your presentation computer. This is where your presentation stays.

[Download both apps →](https://pptcontrol.app/?download=1)

[All download links →](https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=downloads)

Open both apps after installing. No account required.

## 2. Find the desktop app

PPTControl Desktop runs in the **menu bar at the top of your Mac screen** or the **system tray near the Windows clock**.

Open its menu. Keep PPTControl Desktop running while presenting. [Find the icon →](https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=desktop-icon)

## 3. Complete setup in PPTControl Desktop

Follow the setup guide in PPTControl Desktop and allow the requested permissions. Choose your presentation app in its setup or menu. Then continue below to connect your phone.

## 4. Connect your phone

### Select your computer in the app

Open PPTControl and tap **your computer** in the **device list**.

**Bluetooth** must be on for both devices.

For slide previews, PPTControl automatically tries to connect over your local network. If previews don’t load, make sure both devices are on the **same Wi-Fi** or a phone hotspot. [Wi-Fi & hotspot help →](https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=hotspot)

Basic control works without shared Wi-Fi.

Computer not listed? Try the QR-code option below, or [check Bluetooth setup →](https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=bluetooth)

### Or scan the QR code

Connect both devices to **the same Wi-Fi**, or connect the computer to [**your phone’s hotspot**](https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=hotspot). Ethernet on the computer also works if it shares that local network.

#### Show the code on your computer

In the PPTControl Desktop menu, choose **Show Pairing QR Code** and keep the QR-code window open.

#### Scan it in PPTControl

On your phone, open PPTControl and tap **Scan QR Code** in the device list. Allow Camera and, if asked, Local Network access. Point the scanning frame at the code on your computer.

If a web page opens, tap **Open PPTControl**. If it doesn’t connect, choose another available network address in the computer’s QR-code window and scan the updated code. [Code not connecting?](https://pptcontrol.app/Help?guide=qr-code)

## 5. Approve the request on the computer

Approve the request from your own phone or tablet on your computer.

**Mac:** look near the PPTControl icon in the menu bar at the top of the screen and click **Yes**. **Windows:** look in the center of the screen.

No request? Enable **Allow New Pairing Requests** in the desktop menu and try connecting again. Previously approved devices normally do not need another approval.
