Answers to common setup, connection, presentation, Apple Watch, Pro, and refund questions.
Getting Started
PPTControl is a remote control app for presentations. It lets you control PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides from a phone or tablet over Bluetooth, and from Apple Watch through the paired iPhone.
PPTControl has two parts: the mobile app on your phone or tablet, and PPTControl Desktop on the Windows PC or Mac that runs the presentation.
You need the PPTControl app on your phone, tablet, or Apple Watch, and PPTControl Desktop on the computer that runs the presentation.
1. Install and open PPTControl Desktop on your Windows PC or Mac.
2. Grant the required permissions on the computer.
3. Turn on Bluetooth on both devices.
4. Open PPTControl on your phone or tablet.
5. Select your computer and accept the connection request on the computer.
Keep PPTControl Desktop open while presenting.
Install the mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.
Install PPTControl Desktop on the computer from the Mac App Store or Microsoft Store.
You can also use the download links on pptcontrol.app or open the desktop download from inside the PPTControl mobile app.
PPTControl is made for controlling a presentation on a Windows PC or Mac from a phone, tablet, or Apple Watch.
The Mac version requires macOS 13.0 or later. Both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs are supported. The Windows version requires Windows 10 or later. Both Windows 10 and Windows 11 are supported on x64 and ARM. Windows computers must support Bluetooth Low Energy peripheral/server/advertising mode. Some Bluetooth adapters can connect normal Bluetooth devices but still do not support the mode PPTControl needs.
The iPhone and iPad app requires iOS/iPadOS 15.0 or later, and the Apple Watch app requires watchOS 7.0 or later.
Not at the moment. The desktop app is for Windows and macOS.
iPadOS does not allow apps to control the system and other presentation apps in the same way a desktop computer can. Chromebook and Linux are not currently supported.
For simple slide control, no desktop helper app would be required. However, advanced features like speaker notes, slide information, and deeper integration with PowerPoint or Keynote need a desktop app that can read data from the presentation software and send it to your phone.
No. In many cases, normal Bluetooth pairing can actually cause connection problems.
If you already paired the phone and computer in the system Bluetooth settings, remove that pairing on both devices, restart both devices, and connect again only through PPTControl.
Connection Help
PPTControl currently connects through Bluetooth Low Energy, also called BLE.
Bluetooth must be enabled on both devices, and PPTControl Desktop must stay open on the computer while you use the remote.
On macOS, PPTControl Desktop needs Bluetooth permission and Accessibility permission to send keyboard and mouse actions to the presentation app. You can grant these in System Settings > Privacy & Security.
On Windows, make sure Bluetooth is enabled. You may also need to grant firewall access for the local network. If your organization uses antivirus or endpoint security software, it may also need to allow PPTControl Desktop to send simulated keyboard or mouse input.
Check these points first:
1. PPTControl Desktop is installed and open on the computer.
2. Bluetooth is enabled on both devices.
3. PPTControl Desktop is allowed to receive new requests.
4. The phone and computer are not paired through normal Bluetooth settings.
5. Both apps are updated to the latest available version.
6. Both devices have been restarted once.
On Mac, also make sure the required permissions are granted. On Windows, check whether the Bluetooth adapter supports Bluetooth Low Energy peripheral/server mode.
Remove the normal Bluetooth pairing between the phone and the computer in the system settings on both devices. PPTControl uses Bluetooth Low Energy, which works differently from classic Bluetooth.
After removing the pairing, restart both devices, open PPTControl Desktop, and connect again through the PPTControl app.
It means the Windows computer or Bluetooth adapter does not support the Bluetooth mode PPTControl currently needs.
Normal Bluetooth can still work for headphones, keyboards, or file transfer even when this specific Low Energy peripheral/server role is missing. PPTControl needs that role so your phone can connect to the computer through Bluetooth Low Energy.
On Windows, open Device Manager, select the Bluetooth adapter, open Properties, go to Details, and look for "Bluetooth radio supports Low Energy Peripheral Role". If the value is false or unavailable, that computer or adapter is not compatible with the current Bluetooth connection method.
No. The Bluetooth version number alone is not enough.
For Windows, the adapter and its driver must support Bluetooth Low Energy peripheral/server/advertising mode. Many dongles work as normal Bluetooth clients but do not reliably support the mode PPTControl needs.
iOS and Android can change the Bluetooth address of a device for privacy reasons. When that happens, the computer may see the same phone as a new device.
Keep "Allow new requests" enabled in PPTControl Desktop if you often need to reconnect or if your phone is detected as a new device.
Usually it means PPTControl Desktop did not accept the request from the phone.
Open PPTControl Desktop and enable "Allow new requests". Then try connecting again. If it still fails, remove the normal Bluetooth pairing in the system settings, restart both devices, and reconnect through PPTControl.
Restart the phone and computer, update both apps, and remove any normal Bluetooth pairing between the devices. Then open PPTControl Desktop before opening the mobile app.
If you changed presentation apps, changed Bluetooth adapters, updated Windows/macOS, or installed security software, include that detail when contacting support.
Stay close to the computer and avoid blocking the Bluetooth path with walls, furniture, or your body. Bluetooth range depends heavily on the computer, phone, adapter, and the room.
If the connection drops frequently, restart both devices, toggle Bluetooth off and on again, remove any normal Bluetooth pairing between the phone and computer, and reconnect only through PPTControl.
On Android, some devices have less stable Bluetooth Low Energy behavior than others. If possible, test the same setup with another phone or computer to isolate which side is causing the dropouts.
This usually points to a computer-side difference. Common causes are Bluetooth hardware support, Bluetooth drivers, Windows privacy settings, macOS permissions, antivirus tools, or company security software.
If possible, test the same phone with another computer. That helps separate phone-side issues from computer-side issues.
Presentation Control
Check these points:
1. The correct profile or presentation app is selected in PPTControl Desktop.
2. The presentation app is open on the computer.
3. The slideshow window is active.
4. PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides is in the foreground when using keyboard-style controls.
5. Antivirus or company security software is not blocking simulated input.
PPTControl sends commands to the computer. If another app, such as OBS, is in the foreground, the presentation app may not receive those commands.
PPTControl is focused on Microsoft PowerPoint, Apple Keynote, and Google Slides.
Basic slide controls work best with the supported desktop workflows. Advanced features depend on the presentation app and platform. At the moment, Google Slides speaker notes are not supported.
Yes. PPTControl controls the presentation software on your computer, so it can be used while the computer is connected to a built-in screen, external monitor, TV, or projector.
The important part is that the presentation app is running on the computer and receives the commands from PPTControl Desktop.
Not currently. PPTControl is designed for desktop presentation apps.
PowerPoint web would require a different integration and could require sending presentation data through server logic, which PPTControl avoids.
PPTControl can control Google Slides for basic presentation actions where supported.
At the moment, Google Slides speaker notes are not supported.
If you bought Pro only to view Google Slides notes, use the refund flow from the store where you purchased Pro.
Not officially at the moment. Some basic keyboard controls may work in some apps, but PPTControl is built around PowerPoint, Keynote, and Google Slides.
Speaker notes, laser pointer behavior, and app-specific integrations should not be expected to work in unsupported presentation tools.
Not currently. The "Switch slides via volume buttons" setting lets you use the phone volume buttons to move through slides. It does not control the computer's audio volume.
Open the PPTControl app, go to Settings, and enable "Switch slides via volume buttons". Then connect to the computer and start the presentation.
With Pro, PPTControl can use the phone as a touch area for moving the computer cursor. In presentation mode, open the pointer or mouse control view and drag in the touch area to move the cursor.
On macOS, mouse control requires Accessibility permission for PPTControl Desktop. On Windows, security software can sometimes block simulated mouse input.
On Mac, PPTControl Desktop appears in the menu bar. Look for the PPTControl icon at the top of the screen after launching the app.
On Windows, PPTControl Desktop appears in the system tray. Look for the PPTControl icon in the taskbar notification area after launching the app.
Speaker Notes and Slide Preview
Yes, with Pro, speaker notes are available for supported PowerPoint and Keynote presentations.
Open the presentation on the computer, connect PPTControl, and tap the notes icon in the mobile app. Make sure the presentation actually contains notes and that both PPTControl apps are updated.
Check these points:
1. Pro is unlocked in the mobile app.
2. You are using PowerPoint or Keynote, not Google Slides, LibreOffice, PowerPoint web, or another unsupported app.
3. The presentation is open on the computer before you connect.
4. The presentation contains speaker notes.
5. PPTControl Desktop has the required permissions.
6. Both the mobile app and desktop app are updated.
If notes still do not appear, contact support and include your computer system, presentation app, PPTControl app versions, and whether the slide controls work.
This is currently a Windows-only issue. Click-based PowerPoint animations can make notes move too early because each click is treated like a slide step. A fix will be rolled out in the next days.
If this happens on Mac, make sure PPTControl Desktop is updated to the latest version.
In the meantime, you can use these workarounds on Windows:
1. Create a separate slide for each animation step and use PowerPoint's Morph transition.
2. Disable automatic note switching and move notes manually.
Not yet, but this feature will be available with an update soon.
No. At the moment, Google Slides speaker notes are not supported.
Speaker notes are only available for supported PowerPoint and Keynote presentations.
Apple Watch
The Apple Watch app works through the iPhone. Keep the iPhone connected to the presentation computer, then use the watch for quick slide controls.
This relay through the iPhone is required because of Apple Watch connection restrictions.
Watch commands travel through the iPhone before reaching the computer. That extra step can add a short delay, especially when the watch display wakes up or the connection has to be refreshed.
The Apple Watch app is mainly for quick controls. Use the iPhone or iPad to read speaker notes.
Recent versions can keep notes on the phone in sync when switching slides from the watch, but the watch itself is not intended as the main notes display.
On supported Apple Watch models and watchOS versions, PPTControl supports switching slides with the double tap gesture. If it feels delayed, that is usually because the command is relayed through the iPhone.
Check that the Apple Watch is paired with the iPhone, that watchOS is supported, and that PPTControl is installed for the watch in the iPhone Watch app.
Not currently. PPTControl supports Apple Watch, but Android smartwatches are not supported at the moment.
Pro, Purchases, and Restore
Open PPTControl on your phone or tablet, go to Settings, then open "Pro version & tips".
Buy the Pro version there. Tips are only a way to support development and do not unlock Pro features.
The exact current feature list is shown in the app before purchase. Common Pro features include speaker notes for supported presentations and advanced presentation controls such as pointer/mouse/laser features and presentation-page customization.
Yes. Pro belongs to the mobile app store account, not to one computer. You can connect to different Windows or Mac computers that have PPTControl Desktop installed, as long as the connection works on that computer.
Install PPTControl, sign in with the same App Store or Google Play account that bought Pro, then use the restore button in the app.
If restore keeps loading, restart the phone and try again. If it still fails, contact support and include whether you purchased through the App Store or Google Play and what error appears.
Normally no. Purchases are handled by Apple and Google, and PPTControl does not use its own account backend for payment data.
If you switch stores, the normal restore flow cannot see purchases from the other store.
Restart the phone, confirm you are signed in to the correct App Store or Google Play account, and make sure that account can make purchases in your region.
If the purchase still fails, take a screenshot of the store error and contact support. Store payment problems are usually controlled by Apple or Google, not directly by PPTControl.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by the store where you bought Pro.
For App Store purchases, use Apple's refund flow.
For Google Play purchases, use Google's refund flow.
Usually no. Apple and Google handle most purchases, payment processing, and refunds.
If your case is unusual, contact support with the store you used, the problem you had, and any relevant order information. Do not send full payment-card details.
Privacy and Data
No. PPTControl is designed to work locally between your devices. The desktop app receives commands from the phone, tablet, or watch and communicates with the local presentation app.
PPTControl avoids server-based presentation handling because the developer respects your privacy :).
Contacting Support
Include the details that make the problem reproducible:
1. Phone/tablet/watch model and operating system.
2. Computer model and operating system.
3. PPTControl mobile app version.
4. PPTControl Desktop version.
